Grumpster, there are even more Liverpool fans over here. I fucking hate the big headed and self righteous cunts

There are far too many Spurs fans in Norway.

Iversson and Thorsvedt have a lot to answer for the cunts.

If I'd known at the time, I would have warned you that the Yids play Inter in Oslo tonight. Loads of them about, stinking up the place.

Sorry, about that, but the immigration control are nowhere near tough enough here.

:-(

PS: COME ON INTER!

Virginiaham, you dont eat cod caught in months without a R in it.

The cod are especially friendly at this time of year. If you visit the main pier they'll advise you about cod tickling trips.

Nice one. Have blinding time, the pair of you. The weather forecast looks OK for the moment, so you'll have a lovely weekend. Whomail me if you've got any particular questions you're wondering about.

Lily Hammer - Technopop and Tour De France. Seen them a few times in the past few years. Looking forwards to it and doing the tourist bit during the day.

I would avoid the bull-running if at all possible.

Aha! That answers what kind of music you're into. Which show do you have tickets to, Computer World? You're in for a treat, whichever one.

Thanks everyone, some great suggestions here of things to do, appreciate the insights. Will definitely check out Vigelands Park , a look around the city at some other museums, a walk by the river and have no doubt several horrendously expensive beers. Oh and I buy a travel pass. I will also be going to the Opera House (staying next to it ) but not listen to opera, thank god - although the missus would love it , but to see Kraftwerk - the reason for the trip in the first place.

I did chuckle at Gank's early posting

"Why don't you try TripAdvisor or just Google 'Oslo'?
This is a West Ham fan website."

You are absolutely right, it is a West Ham fan website. Full of informed, entertaining people who'll happily spend a few minutes helping a fellow hammer. Gawd bless you all!

Me too. And you're right, around there was properly dubious. And that's before you get to the taxi fares! And the price of everything else, for that matter.

I do recommend Bagel & Juice though, if you're in that part of town. Excellent food/drink and reasonably priced, by Oslo standards.

Oh, and even if you're busting for a piss after being on the plane, DON'T use the toilet situated halfway along the glass walkway heading towards customs. The only time I ever did, a cop grabbed me the second I set foot into the customs area. Then took me off and tore apart everything I had with me. Finally admitting defeat, half an hour later, after a strip search and a look up my arse had proved equally fruitless. I think they must work on a theory that people carrying illicit substances will be tempted to nip in that toilet for a quick 'adjustment.' It's placed in a really weird spot, offering them a clear view of anyone who goes in it. I'm pretty sure that's why I got grabbed. Never had any trouble going through there before or after.

Though I did have the amusement of sitting in Bagel & Juice the next afternoon, with the girl I was going over there to see, when the cop who'd searched me walked in off-duty with his wife. Funnily enough, he didn't seem interested in my loud offers of another look up my arse. True story.

Just remembered one truly awesome part about Vigeland Park and that's the little echo spot you can stand on and shout out any old shit to hear the bounce back.

I'm easily pleased, but it's amazing.

Right next to the huge tower of bodies.

Re: Recommendations of things to do and not do in Oslo?
It's been mentioned many times, for good reason. Vigelands Park is usually the first thing I recommend to anyone who hasn't seen it. Incredible life's work of a very busy sculptor. He somehow managed to capture all the meaningful moments in life in his work.

Breathtaking spectacle.

Re: Recommendations of things to do and not do in Oslo?
You've had loads of good suggestions here chajon.

One thing missing is a walk along the river. A lot of work has been done in the last 10 years to make it one of the city's best strolls. You can walk up and down, or as you've only a weekend, take the tube up to Nydalen and walk downtown from there, or reverse that and walk up to Nydalen. Ideal in good eather, but if it rains, you have to still beoutside, can't be a prisoner of the indoors....so check the weather forecast to see if you need to pack light waterproofs.

Along the lower reaches of the river, you'll find a place called Blå. This is a great place to go on a sunday evening. live music and a good crowd of all ages.

This is right next to Grünerløkka, which is a nice neighbourhood to check out, away from the sentrum crowds, but still pretty much downtown.

The National Art Gallery was much better than the Munch Museum. HTH YFC.

One thing I noticed with Munch after a visit to his museum was what a fucking useless painter he was.

I've seen better stuff from school kids (his drawings/paintings of humans were diabolical)and am guessing it's only popular as he was a lunatic.

Funny thing art as most of the highly expensive stuff really is gash.
